KMC to provide subsidies to 10 meat shops

KATHMANDU, March 4: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to provide grant money to 10 butcher shops in the current fiscal year in a bid to improving the quality of meat sold in the market.

KATHMANDU, March 4: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to provide grant money to 10 butcher shops in the current fiscal year in a bid to improving the quality of meat sold in the market. 


Although KMC had planned to provide grant to 30 meat shops in the current fiscal, only 10 meat shops have been eligible as most of the applications did not meet the required criteria.

KMC had called for applications through a public notice but only few applications seeking grant were received, KMC's Agriculture and Livestock Service Department chief Hari Bahadur Bhandari said. 


Out of the applications received, three applicants would be provided Rs 1.5 million each under the setting up meat mart in partnership programme, four applicants would be provided Rs 500 thousand each under the promotion of meat-based factories programme while three applicants would be provided Rs 100 thousand each under the meat shop improvement programme.
