KMC starts garbage collection

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to start collecting garbage piled up in various parts of the valley from Wednesday, said the KMC office.



The metropolitan city sped up the garbage collection after the Minister for Local Development Top Bahadur Rayamajhi on Tuesday directed the KMC office in this regard saying the unmanaged garbage on the road have made the city having a deserted look and has been affecting public health. [break]



The metropolitan city had not collected the wastes for the past few weeks saying garbage-carrying vehicles saw technical snag and the road leading to Sisadol landfill site crumbled.



According to KMC Environment Chief Shantaram Pokharel, the Metropolis has begun collecting garbage from today with the directives from the Minister.



Pokharel further said they will pick up all the garbage from the road within Saturday.
