PM directs KMC Mayor Shakya to immediately solve garbage collection issue

KATHMANDU, August 30: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to immediately make necessary arrangements to ensure smooth collection of garbage from the city streets.

KATHMANDU, August 30: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) to immediately make necessary arrangements to ensure smooth collection of garbage from the city streets.


Prime Minister Deuba had called Mayor Bidha Sundar Shakya and Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi at his office on Monday to direct them to make necessary arrangements to make sure that the garbage dumped at the roadside across the city is collected every day. “The government will provide necessary support, but the arrangements to collect the garbage should be made immediately,” PM Deuba said.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Deuba also directed them to coordinate with other government agencies to solve the garbage collection issue as soon as possible.


Meanwhile, a group of youths affiliated to the ruling party, Nepali Congress (NC), staged a protest on Monday by disposing of garbage in front of the main entrance of the KMC on Monday.
