KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has granted permission to all the schools within its authority to re-open.

A meeting of KMC on Sunday paved the way to re-open the schools after a hiatus of 10 months since the pandemic disrupted teaching and learning schools.

Bidhya Sundar Shakya, Mayor of KMC, maintained that the metropolis has developed a working model. Schools within KMC’s authority will have to reopen physical classes by adopting proper health safety guidelines against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and other provisions included in the working model.

However, few private schools have been conducting physical classes within the metropolis since November last year. With this decision of KMC, the government owned schools will also be opened now onward.

There are currently 91 community schools and 541 institutional schools in KMC.
