KMC Mayor Balen imposes Rs 100,000 fine on UML for rally pollution

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on the ruling CPN-UML for polluting the environment during an awareness rally on Durbar Marg, Kathmandu, on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) imposed a fine of Rs 100,000 on the ruling CPN-UML for polluting the environment during an awareness rally organized at Durbar Marg in Kathmandu on Friday.


The metropolis penalized UML under the Solid Waste Management Act, 2068, and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Finance Act, 2081, citing garbage left at the rally venue.

A statement issued by the metropolis mentions that the fine was issued for violating environmental regulations.
