Mubarak was abducted along with another local boy, Satish Sah. While Satish, 9, was released by kidnappers four days later after his parents paid a ransom of Rs 275,000, Mubarak´s dead body was found in Baluwa Khola at Yagya Bhumi village of Dhansusha the day before Satish was freed.
The police, however, could not identify the body immediately as his body and face were severely battered. Police later found that the body found was that of Mubarak.
According to the police, the kidnappers killed Mubarak by crushing his head with stones. During an interrogation by police, Jagarnath Yadav, 32, who was arrested Tuesday night, admitted that five persons, including him, were involved in the murder. Jagarnath is the district in-charge of an armed outfit called Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha (ATMM).
Police have arrested Shri Narayan Mandal, 38, and Laxman Yadav, 27, on the charge of Mubarak´s murder. However, the other two persons, believed to have masterminded Mubarak´s murder, are still at large.
Meanwhile, District Court of Dhanusha has remanded Ram Dev Mukhiya and Ram Babu Mukhiya accused in the murder of the five-year-old Dipesh yadav to judicial custody.
Binod Mukhiya, another accused in Dipesh´s murder, is still at large.
