The Nepal Airlines has stopped flights to the airport since April 14, citing lack of sufficient staff to man the airport.[break]
Lack of staff at the airport tower and continuous rainfall has closed down the airport, Chairman of the Airport Construction Users Committee, Durga Prasad Ghimire said.
The airport that is close to the district headquarters had been benefiting specially the patients referred for advance medical treatment, as well as government staff and tourists.
The airport was constructed at the initiative of the local people of Khotang and the region.
