KATHMANDU, Nov 9: CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal has asked Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala to withdraw Ram Chandra Poudel´s candidacy in the prime ministerial poll, during the duo meeting at Koirala´s residence, Maharajgunj on Tuesday morning.

In response, Koirala said that his party´s stand in prime ministerial election is for "democracy" and NC can only do so after the UCPN (Maoist) returns the seized property, dissolves paramilitary structure of YCL and implements the peace agreement.

Top leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML held talks on way outs of the present political deadlock, budget and a new government formation ahead of Wednesday´s secret talks between the three major parties.

Earlier to this, President of Rastriya Prajantra Party Pashupati Shamsher Rana met Koirala and urged him not to backtrack from prime ministerial election process.
