KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Nepal's candidate Master Keshab Shrestha's unbeaten run came to an end on Friday in the Asian Continental Chess Championship being held in the UAE.

Keshab rated 2118 faced first defeat in the fifth round at the hands of Indian International Master (IM) NP Kartike rated 2426. Kartike adopted attacking approach since the onset and forced keshab to surrender in the 28th move.
Keshab made a mistake in the 22nd move when he sacrificed the knight to save rook. Keshab will face International Master S Nitin of India in the sixth round on Saturday.
