According to a press release by BBC World Service Trust Nepal, the awards were handed over by world famous naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough. The BBC World Service Trust Nepal was the only organization to win two awards in this year’s ceremony.
In the category of Team of the Year, BBC World Service Trust Nepal drama unit was short-listed alongside BBC World News America, the team which produced the BBC’s American election coverage for an international television audience. The judges praised the BBC World Service Trust Nepal drama team for "the newness and variety of its members and its energetic talents and inventiveness."

The team comprises of Editor Fiona Ledger, Deputy Editor Kedar Sharma, Senior Producer Deepak Rauniyar, producers Khagendra Lamichhane and Sushama Pandey, sound technician Shirish Thapa, and actor/musician Prakash Gandharba.
The drama, Katha Mitho Sarangiko is distinguished by its use of improvisation, and lack of scripts, enabling actors and non actors from a wide range of ethnic, caste and educational backgrounds to take part.
The second series of Katha Mitho Sarangiko hits airwaves on April 17.
