The pair of Prativa Gurung and Maya Pun from Kaski defeated the duo of Trina Rai and Ratan Rai from Kathmandu 21-11, 21-14 in the final of women´s category.[break]
In the final of men´s above 55 years category, the duo of Jay Ram Hamal and Rudra Ghale of APF beat Ramesh Kumar Shrestha and Krishna Thapa 22-20, 15-21, 21-13.
In the same age category, the APF duo of Madhav Bahadur Thapa and Shailendra Ghale, and the pair of Govinda Swar from Bhojpur and Dan Bahadur Lama from Kanchanpur had to be content with third position.
The pair of Krishna Shivakoti and Surendra Bahadur Singh overcame Narayan Man Shrestha and Hari Prasad Shrestha 17-21, 21-13, 21-15 in the final of men´s above 45 years category.
The duo of Buddha Chaudhary and Pushpa Shrestha from Kathmandu, and Damber Gurung and Manoj Shrestha from Kaski finished third.
The winning team of each category received Rs 15,000 while the runners-up and third position holders bagged Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000, respectively. Altogether 69 teams from 19 districts had participated in the tournament.
Karatekas felicitated
Nepal Shito-ryu Karate Do Samakhusi Dojo on Sunday honored the medal winners of the South Asian NKFI International Open Karate Tournament held from October 29-31 in Pune, India.
Nepal had won the team championship title with 10 golds, one silver and as many bronze medal. Host India had won three gold, five silver and three bronze medals to finish in the second position. Sri Lanka had finished third. Bangladesh, Bhutan and Iran had also participated in the tournament.
Volleyball coaches course begins
Nepal Volleyball Association on Sunday started Olympic Solidarity FIVB Level I Coaches Course in coordination with Nepal Olympic Committee and International Olympic Committee.
The 12-day course being participated by 38 coaches will run till November 17.
The main objective of the coaching program is to produce competent coaches, the organizers said.
Third defeat in kabaddi
Nepal on Sunday was defeated in its third consecutive match during the World Cup Circle Kabaddi being held in Punjab, India.
Nepal suffered third defeat at the hands of Germany 58-23.
Earlier, Australia and the host India had defeated Nepal. Nepal will meet Afghanistan in another group match on Thursday.
