MUGU, Aug 15: Various leaders in Karnali district have warned of quitting their party memberships if their voices go unheeded by their respective political parties.

Locals, backed by some political parties, have been enforcing indefinite shutdown in Mugu since last Sunday, demanding for integrated mid-west and the autonomous Karnali province with special rights.

Addressing a protest gathering organized in Mugu Saturday, former minister Hasta Bahadur Malla warned of waging the second round of vigorous agitation since the leadership has been turning deaf ear to the demands of the Karnali folks.

"I urge all the party members in the district to be mentally prepared to forsake the party membership as a protest against the apathy of the leadership," exhorted Malla.

Similarly, District Secretary of CPN-Maoist Jit Bahadur Malla shared that under the second round of protest; they may forsake their party's membership, citizenship card and boycott the government activities.

UCPN (Maoist) former In-charge of Mugu Sukbir Budha argued that there was no point in sticking to the party if it does not pay attention to the demands of its cadres and of public.

The daily life of people in Mugu has been hit hard due to the indefinite shutdown. Markets and educational institutes have remained closed over the six days. RSS
