KALIKOT, Dec 4: The Karnali Corridor has been blocked due to a dry landslip in Lapha of Pachal Jharna Rural Municipality of Kalikot.

The corridor has been blocked since Saturday due to landslides. Man Bahadur Bhandari, a resident of Palanta, said that vehicles could not operate on the road due to continuous landslides.

"It has been two days since the Karnali Corridor has been blocked," he said, "There were landslides in many places in the rainy season. Now, because of a dry landslide at Lapha, the corridor has suffered a lot of damage. Hundreds of local passengers and patients including locals of Bajura, Mugu etc are stranded.

There is a problem due to the lack of equipment to remove the huge landslide debris. According to the police, an initiative has been started to avoid the landslide.

Passenger vehicles and cargo vehicles used to ply from Lalighat in the Karnali Corridor to Salisalla in Humla, but now due to dry landslides, they have stopped. Locals said that it will take a few more weeks to remove the debris. Transportation of food and essential goods in the area remains halted due to the blocked corridor.
