BELAWA (BAGLUNG), Feb 24: The Baglung-Gulmi road section of the Kaligandaki corridor has been blocked since last night due to dry landslides.
The dry landslide occurred last night in Baralwa, Jaimini Municipality-8 of Baglung, situated on the border of Baglung and Gulmi.
Revised interest rate corridor system introduced
The landslide has completely obstructed the Maldhunga-Arbeni road within the Baglung-Gulmi section. This road segment, spanning 44 kilometers from Maldhunga in Baglung to Arbeni in Gulmi, is currently undergoing blacktopping upgrades.
According to Engineer Chak Bahadur Gurung from the construction company Kalika Construction, the road became impassable following the dry landslide last night, halting ongoing construction work.
"Clearing the landslide may take up to a week even with the use of dozers from both ends," he explained. "The removal process has been hampered due to continuous falling of rocks." Gurung mentioned that the Kaligandaki Corridor Project Office in Palpa has been notified about the landslide.
Since the road closure, both long and short-distance vehicles have been unable to travel through. Vehicles heading from the headquarters Baglung Bazar, Jaimini, and Bareng Rural Municipality to Butwal and other destinations have been halted.
