Karbonn A6 hits store shelves

KATHMANDU, May 1: With the rise in demand for low-end smartphones, Pashupati Trade Link, a subsidiary of Murarka Group, has introduced Karbonn A6, a 4-inch smartphone, in the domestic market.



A6 is the cheapest smartphone available in the market with Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, according to the company. The phone is available for Rs 10,000.[break]



Karbonn A6 supports dual SIM and flaunts IPS technology display, which offers higher resolution and sharper colors that enable clearer screen display, the company said.



The phone is powered by 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 1,450 mAh battery.



The phone has a 3.2-mega-pixel rear LED flash camera with a front facing camera for video chatting. The phone supports EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, voice search and has customizable widgets.



The company is also launching two new smartphones--S1 Titanium and S5 Titanium--within a week.



S1 Titanium is a 4.5-inch dual SIM phone powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip and Android Jelly Bean operating system. The phone has a screen resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, 4 GB ROM and 1 GB RAM expandable up to 32 GB.



The phone comes with a 5-mega-pixel auto focus LED flash camera with a resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. The phone also has a secondary camera for video chatting.



The back of the phone is made of plastic and is extremely glossy and can be used as a mirror too, said the company. The phone comes with 1,600 mAh battery that supports talk time up to 4 hours and stand-by time of up to 200 hours.



Siris Murarka, director of Pashupati Trade Link, said the price of the phone is yet to be fixed, but it will cost approximately Rs 18,000.



Another phone hitting the market next week is Karbonn Titanium S5. It is a dual SIM phone and comes with a 5-inch multi-touch capacitive screen with qHD display. The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 4 GB ROM and 1 GB RAM expandable up to 32 GB.



The smartphone runs on Android Jelly Bean operating system. The phone has an 8-mega-pixel rear auto focus camera with LED flash and a resolution of 3264x2488 pixels, and a 2-mega-pixel front camera.



The phone comes with a 2,000mAh battery. The company is yet to fix the price of the phone but Murarka said it will cost around Rs 21,000.
