JHAPA, Dec 7: Kankai Sports Foundation (KSF), Surunga has progressed to the semifinal of Sharanamati Gold Cup football tournament on Wednesday registering 2-0 victory over Indian opponent Kanchanjunga Football Club of Siliguri at Sharanamati, Jhapa.
Saroj Karki and Dinesh Rai netted one each goal for the winning side KSF.
Kanchanjunga resorted to offensive style from the beginning but failed to find the back on net. Despite creating fewer chances in comparison to the Indian team, KSF succeed to score first goal of the match.

Saroj Karki gave lead to the KSF in the 22nd minute scoring in his solo effort dribbling past four players.
After trailing down by a goal to nil, Kanchanjunga increased its pressure on KSF and created goal scoring chances which, however, it failed to capitalize on due to stubborn defensive performance from the opponent players.
Ten minutes into second half, Kanchanjunga missed a golden chance to hit back the equalizer after failing to convert penalty. The penalty was awarded to Kanchanjunga after Dipak Yakha of KSF fouled Nagen Tamang. However, the penalty taker Rikren Tamang's shot was punched to safety by KSF's goalkeeper Janam Magar.
Dinesh Rai sealed the victory with second goal for KSF in the stoppage time to book the semifinal ticket.
Rojin Majhi of KSF was declared the-man-of-the-match and was handed Rs 2500.
Church Boys of Kathmandu will vie with Armed Police Force (APF) in the last quarterfinal of the tournament on Thursday.
