Kankai River sweeps away mother and son

JHAPA, Oct 30: Two persons died in Jhapa district after the Kankai River swept them away at Satasidham-8, on Sunday morning.



The deceased have been identified as Deepa Dhakal, 30, of Gauradaha-1 and her seven-year-old son Dipesh, according to the Area Police Office, Jhiljhile. [break]



Police Inspector Meghraj Adhikari said the river might have swept them away while Deepa was crossing the river tying her son with a shawl on her back.



The bodies were found around 7:30 am and the police was informed about this.



Both the bodies have been sent to the Mechi Zonal Hospital for post mortem.



It is informed that Deepa was a staff of the Himali Boarding School at Lakhanpur-4 and Dipesh was one- grader at the school.
