Kakadbhitta tense as police open fire

JHAPA, June 11: The eastern border city of Kakadbhitta remained tense whole day Tuesday after police resorted to firing to contain agitating locals who have been protesting over 15 hours of power outage since long.



Police fired in the air and tear gas to disperse the locals after they tried to lay siege to the Nepal Electricity Authority branch office there.



Protesters say police pursued them into their houses and thrashed them. Police however say they had to use force as the protesters started attacking them with stones.
