The fire broke out all of a sudden at the Nepal Bank Limited branch office stationed in the second floor of the building this morning.
The fire that began at around 7:40 today gutted almost all official documents, furniture and other goods inside the office. However, the cash locker and very sensitive documents are said to be safe.
The fire was put out at the joint effort of police and army. Fire tenders from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur had rushed to the scene.
The origin of the fire is yet to be established and an investigation is underway, police said. The extent of the damage caused is not yet known.
