With this, Prasai will remain in custody for the trial.
Earlier on Monday, Prasai’s son, Niraj, lodged the petition after the police arrested his father from their home on Sunday. The Kathmandu District Court extended his custody by five days.
The police action was based on a complaint by RSP member Tika Sangraula (Jwala) and other women, accusing Prasai of character assassination. The police detained him with the court’s approval.
Protests erupted in Kathmandu, Jhapa, and other areas following the arrest.
