KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Jumla and Humla experienced its first snow of the year after sudden change in weather on Tuesday. While the snow has affected daily life, farmers growing winter crops have rejoiced. Without a year of snow, much of the winter crops had started to dry.
Likewise, with drought, viral diseases were also on the rise in Jumla. In both the districts, snow as much as five inches can be found. During winter, snowfall was expected to happen twice or thrice.
However, due to changing climate, this was not the case this year. After the snowfall, residents are hopeful that the snowfall with bring moisture to the land and help save the drying crops. See snowfall pictures here.
Snowfall has occurred in majority of the mountainous districts, including parts of Dolakha; Kalinchowk, Kuri, Gaurishankar, Shailung.
