SURKHET, April 4: The Karnali State government has started sending food items to the mountainous districts in the State via air. The State government decided to supply foodstuffs to Humla, Dolpa and Mugu districts through private aircraft. In case of Humla and Dolpa, air service is the only means of transportation.

"Eight people have died as of Friday due to the disease that spread since the past week", said health worker at the Maila Health Post, Moti Lal Joshi.

HUMLA, April 7: A library has been established at the district prison. The library was established by the 'Book for Prison campaign' sub-committee. As per the directive of the Prison Management Department, the 'Book for Karnali State prisons campaign' main committee was established chaired by head of Karnali Police Mahesh Bikram Shaha.

Chief District Officer Dholak Raj Dhakal informed Republica that the library was established with the aim of promoting positive thinking and educating the inmates. The 'Book Campaign' organized by the Community-Police Partnership Program, established the library in Humla after three months since its initiation. A library each was established in the jails of each district of Karnali on Saturday.

One killed due to gunfire

HUMLA, Oct 21: A person was killed when he came under gunfire by another man to drive away a troop of monkeys at an apple orchard at Ripa of Sarkegaad rural municipality-2 in the district on Friday. The victim is 28-year-old Surendra Karki of Ripa.

HUMLA, Jan 28: A massive fire on Saturday engulfed 11 houses in Rodikot of Sarkegad Rural Municipality-7 in Humla district. Property worth nearly a million rupees was destroyed by the fire.

HUMLA, Jan 4: Eight people lost their lives in Humla due to cold wave. Rana Devi Pariyar and Nandakala Pariyar, both 27 and residents of Tajakot rural municipality-5 were the latest who succumbed to cold and fever.
