KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): An 18-member Nepali judo team, including 14 players, on Wednesday left for India to prepare for the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) to be held in India in February. Twelve players have been selected for the SAG among the 14 players touring India. Indra Bahadur Shrestha (60 kg), Ramesh Magar (66 kg), Sangit Dhungel (73 kg), Pawan Kumar Shrestha (81 kg), Sanjay Maharjan (90 kg) and Shiva Bahadur Baram (100 kg) are the male players, while Sarita Chaudhary (48 kg), Lila Adhikari (52 kg), Manita Shrestha Pradhan (57 kg), Phupu Lhamu Khatri (63 kg), Ganga Chaudhary (70 kg) and Punam Shrestha (78 kg) are the female players. Meanwhile, Rajan Joshi (100 kg) and Akriti Joshi (78 kg) are also in the team although they will not represent Nepal in the SAG. Dal Bahadur Gurung and Indra Dangol are coaches of the team, while Debu Thapa and Ganga Khadka are the team managers. Debu and Phupu will leave for Hungary for further training on January 17 before rejoining the team.
