KATHMANDU, Aug 11: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has demanded the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate the Gaur massacre that killed 28 people on March 21, 2007.
JSP said this at a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday. JSP has demanded the formation of a parliamentary committee with representatives from all the political parties.
After the coalition government reached a five-point agreement with the Gaur Massacre Victims Struggle Committee on August 8, JSP held a press conference to express dissatisfaction with the agreement.
JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav is alleged to be the mastermind behind the Gaur massacre. JSP has also accused the government of trying to trap Yadav by dragging him into an already resolved dispute.

JSP has objected to the agreement reached between the government and the victims of the Gaur massacre stating that the agreement was a ploy against his party and innocent citizens.
Party spokesperson Manish Kumar Suman expressed dissatisfaction over the agreement that was made to trap his party and more than 130 innocent citizens.
He warned that JSP might quit the government if the government does not reconsider the agreement.
He said that the government has behaved shamefully by keeping the reports of the National Human Rights Commission and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights a secret.
“We, as a constituent of the Socialist Front, are in an alliance with the government. Whether to remain in government or not will depend on the behavior of the government,” he said.
JSP has been alleging that the then Maoist Center and its leader Prabhu Sah were the main culprits in the massacre.
Spokesman Suman claimed that the National Human Rights Commission as well as the commissions formed by the government had confirmed that his party was not involved in the massacre.
JSP has urged the government to probe the matter in an impartial manner.
