The meeting also decided to spread the ongoing agitation of Rautahat to other districts of Madhesh Province.

A total of 28 people were killed in the Gaur carnage that happened on March 21, 2007 about 17 years ago. They were brutally murdered in the ensuing clash between the cadres of the then CPN (Maoist) and the then Madhesi Janadhikar Forum.

Upendra Yadav, then Chairman of the Janata Samajwadi Party, was the main accused in the incident, and 253 people were reported to the District Police Office. The victims have started a protest stating that the administration has not taken action against them.

Since July 29, the Struggle Committee has started an indefinite sit-in and hunger strike at a park in Chandranigahapur, Rautahat along the East-West Highway stating that the perpetrators of the killings are still not booked.
