The news about the discord between Rai and his wife was aired on the local FM station I worked with.[break]
I saw Bikash and Rupak Rai at around nine Thursday night when I came out of my rented room talking to a friend on my cell phone. I had known Bikash before and he offered me snacks, but I declined, sensing that he was inebriated.
The two then forcibly dragged me to the ground nearby. I couldn´t retaliate as Bikash was carrying a weapon. They kicked and punched me and attacked with khukuri for writing about the marital dispute.
I cried for help, but nobody could hear my voice. I remember Bikash pulling out a khukuri but don´t recall what happened after that. When I regained consciousness in the morning, I realized I couldn´t move any part of my body. I later learned that they had left me at home after mercilessly thrashing me.
I do not have any animosity with them, but they must have tried to kill me for the news that was aired on Khandbari FM. I wasn´t the one to file that news, and the station had picked the issue after it was raised at a public program.
Rai never approached me to discuss the issue even after the news was aired. But then he suddenly attacked and tried to kill me in an inebriated state Thursday night.
