Journalist Khanal dies in road mishap

JHAPA, July 20: A journalist and litterateur of Jhapa district, Gopi Krishna Khanal, died in a road accident. 


Chief Editor of Naya Kamana Weekly and former President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Khanal, who was critically injured in road accident on Thursday, died in course of treatment at Birtamod-based B and C Hospital on the same night, said Khanal's nephew, Bhanubhakta Khanal.

He was 71 years. 


A jeep (Me 1 Ja 658) hit his bicycle from the back at Ramchowk of Birtamod-2 along the East-West Highway. Police have arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle. His last rites are to be performed at the local Kankai Aryaghat today itself. 


He was born on Push 29 in 2004 BS at Samthang of Khamlalung VDC-9 in Tehrathum district. He had worked as the Editor-in- Chief for the Naya Kamana Weekly for long and has two creations "Mero America Yatra" and "Belako Boli" in his name. He is survived by his spouse and two sons.  RSS
