KATHMANDU, May 17: Japan's Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ikuina Akiko, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba.
Minister Akiko, who is currently in Nepal to participate in the Sagarmatha Sambaad, met Rana during a sideline meeting at Soaltee hotel, the venue for the Sambaad program.

During the meeting, Minister Dr Rana expressed her gratitude to Minister Akiko for participating in the Sagarmatha Sambaad. Additionally, she thanked the Japanese government for its support in the reconstruction and maintenance of the Sindhuli Bardibas Road.
Due to the heavy rains last year, the road sustained significant damage. After the Nepal government requested assistance for the repair and reconstruction of the road, which was built with Japan's grant aid, Japan has agreed to provide support.
Similarly, Minister Dr Rana and the Japanese Foreign Minister discussed various topics related to the relationship between the two countries during the meeting. On the occasion, Minister Dr Rana also expressed her gratitude for the long-standing support Japan has provided in areas such as Nepal's economy and social development.
Minister Rana also urged Japan to show solidarity and cooperation on the issue of climate justice, which Nepal has been advocating for in international forums.
