KATHMANDU, November 22: KIKUTA Yutaka, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, presented the 2024 Foreign Minister’s Commendation KAMIMURA Yoshiharu, Head of the Japanese Language Department at the Campus of International Languages, Tribhuvan University (Bishwo Bhasa Campus), amidst a special ceremony held at the Ambassador's official residence in Kathmandu on Friday.
According to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Nepal, the Foreign Minister’s Commendation is awarded to individuals and organizations with outstanding achievements in international relations to acknowledge their contributions to promoting friendship with Japan. The awards also aim to enhance public understanding and support for the recipients' work.

Kamimura was honored with the Commendation on August 8, 2024, for his significant contributions to promoting the Japanese language and culture, as well as fostering mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Nepal. He has also served on the management committee of the Japanese Supplementary School in Kathmandu, working to improve the educational environment for Japanese children in Nepal.
As the Head of the Japanese Language Department, Mr. Kamimura has been teaching Japanese to students at all levels since 2004. He has also lectured on Japanese culture, history, and literature. Additionally, as an advisor to the Japanese Language Teachers’ Association, Nepal (JALTAN), he has supervised the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and cultural events such as Japanese speech contests and karaoke competitions. Through these efforts, he has played a vital role in expanding the base of Japanese language and culture in Nepal while cultivating advanced Japanese speakers.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Kikuta congratulated Kamimura on receiving the Foreign Minister’s Commendation, recognizing it as a testament to the strong friendship between Japan and Nepal. He expressed his confidence that Mr. Kamimura would continue to lead efforts to promote the Japanese language in Nepal.
The Embassy of Japan hopes that all the students and teachers Kamimura has mentored, as well as Kamimura himself, will continue to act as bridges between Japan and Nepal, further strengthening the friendly relations between the two nations in the future.
