KATHMANDU, March 30: The Janakpur Appellate Court on Tuesday issued a show cause notice in the name of Mahottari District Police Office (DPO) and District Administration Office (DAO) for denying registering a First Information Report (FIR).

Indu Yadav had tried to lodge the FIR against those responsible for the death of his son Rambibek Yadav.

A single bench of Chief Judge Purushottam Bhandari issued an order against the DPO Mahottari to furnish a written reply within 15 days with the clarification of why it refused to register the FIR.

Rambibek Yadav, a resident of Mahottari VDC-5 in Mahottari district, was allegedly killed by security personnel on September 9, 2015, in Jaleshwor during political protest in the Tarai. Rambibek, who was shot in his arms pit, succumbed to bullet injuries.

Upon request from the victim’s family, Tarai Human Rights Defenders Alliance (THRD Alliance) had provided legal assistance to file the writ of mandamus at Janakpur Appellate Court.
