Sharma from Surkhet was picked by the Janamorcha as a by-election candidate from Chitwan. His proponent is Damar KC and supporter is Bharatpur Devi Sharma.

In the election held on November 20, the Janamorcha did not field a candidate from Chitwan. The party backed the Nepali Congress-Maoist alliance. Now the Janamorcha has left the alliance.  Janamorcha has not registered candidacy in Tanahun- 1 and Bara-2.

In Chitwan 2, a by-election is about to be held after the Supreme Court canceled the position of Rastriya Swatantra  Party’s chairman Rabi Lamichhane as a lawmaker over his citizenship dispute. Lamichhane won the election on November 20 with an overwhelming majority. While he won by securing 49,261 votes, his nearest competitor Umesh Shrestha, the then state minister from Nepali Congress, secured 14, 983 votes. Lamichhane is currently embroiled in a controversy related to passport misuse.

In the by-elections to be held on April 23, Sharma will be competing against the likes of Nepali Congress leaders Jeet Narayan Shrestha, Ram Prasad Neupane from UML, Jeev Lal Puri from RPP. Lamichhane has already filed his candidacy for the election from Chitwan-2.
