13 Nepali students were on board the ill-fated plane
POKHARA, March 13: The US-Bangla aircraft crash in Kathmandu has left the Jalalabad Ragib-Rabeya Medical College of Bangladesh in mourning as 13 of its Nepali students were on board the ill-fated plane. The Nepali students were returning home after their final exams, according to a local of Biratnagar, Ranjit Singh, who is also perusing the MBBS course at the college. “There are many Nepali students here. They were our senior brothers and sisters who were returning home after the exams,” Singh said over the phone. “We used to live in the same dormitory. The entire college is in mourning,” he lamented.

Singh, a student of MBBS second year at the college, stated that the college is popular among Nepali students. “So far, we have not been informed much on the loss. We only know that two injured students are receiving treatment,” he said.
Niyam Sharma of Pokhara, who is also studying at the same college, also grieved the loss. “The students were planning for their bright future after years of hard work, but ill fate befell on them,” he said over the phone.
According to Sharma, Nepali students in the college are not in a normal state. They are all extremely disturbed, he said. “We are not talking much, everything has gone silent. It is a very tragic incident,” he stated.
In the last few weeks, many Nepali students have returned to Nepal. “Many others are planning to get back home,” he said.
