Ex- Indian PM Manmohan Singh passes away; Govt declares 7 days of national mourning | Last rites on Saturday

Former PM Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions, AIIMS informed. To mourn the death of the former PM, the Union Government declared 7-days of National mourning.

NEW DELHI, Dec 27: Former PM Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions, AIIMS informed. To mourn the death of the former PM, the Union Government declared 7-days of National mourning.


Notification from the Government of India also informed that Cabinet is to meet today i.e on December 27 at 11 am. Manmohan Singh’s last rites will be conducted with full state honours, the officials added.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has been credited as the architect of India's economic reforms. Before taking office as the Prime Minister in 2004, Dr Manmohan Singh served in different positions in Govt of India.


He became India’s 14th Prime Minister with an uninterrupted tenure of 10 years till 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders poured in tributes and condoled the demise of veteran leader.
