KATHMANDU, April 12: Manmohan Memorial Cricket Center is set to organize the Manmohan Inter-province U-16 National Cricket Tournament from April 26.
The tournament, which will be played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, will conclude on May 2.
Speaking at a press meet organized in the capital on Wednesday, the organizers informed that a total of seven teams from seven provinces will take part in the tournament.
The tournament is being organized in the memory of the former PM Manmohan Adhikari and to provide opportunities to young players from all the seven provinces.
National cricket tournament from April 26
The center’s President Thakur Gaire informed that the players will be selected from all the seven provinces on April 19 and 20.
The organizers further informed that each innings will be played in 30 overs and every team has to feature 14 team members including players, coach and team manager.
The seven teams will be divided into two groups and the top two teams of each group will advance into the semifinals, informed the organizers.
The winner of the tournament will take home Rs 500,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 250,000. The organizers also informed that the best players of different categories will also be prized.
The players will be selected from Biratnagar of Province 1, Birgunj of Province 2, Kathmandu of Province 3, Pokhara of Province 4, Bhairahawa of Province 5, Surkhet of Province 6 and Dhangadhi of Province 7.
The cricket associations, regional and district sports development committees, local cricket associations, coaches and experts of all the seven provinces will select the players from talent hunt.
Gaire also informed that one male player, one female player and a coach will be awarded with Manmohan National Cricket Honor 2018 for their performances and achievements in 2017.
