MYAGDI, Sept 13: CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal on Tuesday claimed that the Maoists have time and again offered him the post of prime minister.

But Khanal said that he did not attach any importance to the offer, saying he was not working for power but for the people.

"UML leads the incumbent government; there is no difference in its being led by me or by Madhavji [Madhav Nepal]," Khanal said.

Khanal, who arrived here to take part in the district convention of the CPN-UML, also urged the Maoists to join the government led by Nepal and end the present political stalemate. He offered two solutions to end the ongoing deadlock. "The Maoists should either join the government or try to forge a greater consensus".
