The Education Regulation has guaranteed that teachers of private and boarding schools be given equal facilities as the government teachers.
“While the government schools teachers have been receiving up to Rs 17000, the private school teachers with same qualifications and grade receive just Rs 3000,” said Gautam.
He stressed that 87 percent of students who appeared in the SLC exams from private schools succeeded this year, which would not have been possible without the hard work of the teachers.
“If government is blaming teachers for bad results of community schools, why can´t it accept success of private school teachers for the good results,” he questioned.
The government needs to strictly monitor the ongoing violation of the regulation to ensure the teachers are not deprived of their rights, said the ISTU chairman.
The teachers have announced to conduct their protests in three phases -- relay strike, fast-unto-death, to be followed by an indefinite strike after Tihar.
