KATHMANDU, June 19: As the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies, lawmakers have urged the government to increase diplomatic efforts for the safety, security, and evacuation of Nepali nationals residing there.
During the special session of today’s National Assembly meeting, members of parliament called on the chairperson to draw the attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately contact Nepalis wishing to return and request evacuation, and to coordinate diplomatic initiatives with both countries accordingly.
Expressing hopes for world peace, National Assembly members also urged the government to remain vigilant about potential risks Nepal may face from the conflict.
During the special session, CPN (Unified Socialist) MP Jayanti Devi Rai requested the government to provide the House with information on the situation and security of Nepalis affected by the Israel-Iran war.

During the special session, MPs Suresh Kumar Ale magar of CPN (Maoist Centre), Padma Bahadur Pariyar of Nepali Congress, and Bhagwati Neupane of CPN (UML) drew the government’s attention to the impact of the Israel-Iran war on Nepal.
“There are nearly 7,000 Nepalis in Israel and about a dozen in Iran. Has the government taken any steps for their safety? Those who wish to return home should be immediately repatriated through diplomatic efforts,” MP Neupane stated.
Speaking during the special session, Nepali Congress MP Jit Jung Basnet expressed dissatisfaction over the royalists and supporters of the king spreading false narratives against the current political system.
“This country is made by us. We brought the republic. We removed the king, and the king cannot return now,” said MP Basnet.
CPN (Maoist Centre) MP Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar expressed the view that the leaders currently heading the state administration have failed to be honest and ethical.
MP Sunar stated that the people of Madhesh remain distant from social justice and that the state is failing to take a protective role. “The situation in Madhesh is severe. I have raised this concern, but the government remains silent. The problems in Madhesh persist as they are,” he said.
MP Puja Chaudhary of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal urged the federal government to focus on long-term improvements in staff management and to formulate policies that ensure uninterrupted service delivery at the local level.
Similarly, CPN (Maoist Centre) MP Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma highlighted that focusing on the development of infrastructure, electricity, roads, education, health, drinking water, and food in Karnali is an achievement of the current political system.
