KANCHANPUR, June 10: The District Administration Office, Kanchanpur, has decided to take legal actions against people belonging to the not-designated age group for receiving COVID-19 vaccines.

The local administration announced legal action after it received complaints about people belonging to the non-targeted age group arriving at the vaccination center to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is currently being administered to people who fall in the age group of 62 to 64 years. All the local governments in the district are requested to help ensure that only people of the designated age group receive the COVID-19 vaccines.

Chief District Officer Ram Kumar Mahato has directed health offices, vaccinators, vaccine centers, and health workers in the district to send details of people who received vaccines apart from those belonging to the designated age group to the district administration office. CDO Mahato said that actions will be taken on the basis of information received from the health offices concerned.

The local administration had earlier decided to administer vaccines to health workers, security personnel, medical students along with senior citizens. However, seeing the opportunity individuals belonging to the non-targeted groups have also arrived in the vaccination center to receive the vaccine. Due to the infiltration of non-targeted groups, local health officials have encountered difficulties administering vaccines to people belonging to the designated age group.

According to the health workers, such problems appear when the senior citizens are accompanied by their relatives. The distribution of vaccines for senior citizens started on Tuesday in every local level of the district. The vaccine will be administered for three days to the targeted groups including health workers, security personnel, medical students and senior citizens living in the district.
