KATHMANDU, March 31: The International Organization for Migration organized an official 'Handover Event' to present the revised 'Land Regulatory Framework, Report on Capacity Assessment of Land Revenue Offices in Morang, Nawalparasi and Surkhet, Global Experiences on Addressing Land Issues in Nepal from the perspective of Terai/Madhes' to the Ministry of Land Reform and Management on Monday in Kathmandu.

An estimated 25% of the total population in Nepal is landless or near landless.


 

Issues related to access to land and as well as a lack of tenure security for an important proportion of the population was one of the root causes of the decade-long armed conflict in Nepal.
