A highly-placed source at IoM said a majority of faculty heads are against granting new affiliations to medical colleges in the pipeline.
The IoM had called a meeting of its faculty heads to take a final decision on whether or not to grant new affiliations following intense pressure from Prime Minister Sushil Koriala, Education Minister Chitralekha Yadav and TU office bearers.

Dr Govinda KC, a professor at IoM, has warned of fresh hunger strike if the IoM provides affiliations to new medical colleges. He had given 10-day ultimatum to the government to fulfill past accords. The ultimatum is expiring on Sunday.
