Int'l medalists take home cash reward

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The National Sports Council (NSC) on Sunday handed over cash incentives to three athletes for bringing home medals from international tournaments recently.



Wushu players Chahana Bomjan and Jharana Gurung and bodybuilder Sujan Lama were given cash incentives.[break]



Bomjan had clinched bronze medal in women´s 60kg sansau event of the Fourth Junior World Wushu Championship held in Macau while Gurung had claimed bronze in women´s 56kg Sansau event in the Eighth Asian Wushu Championship held in Vietnam.



Likewise, Lama had secured bronze medal in men´s 55kg weight category in the 46th Asian Bodybuilding Championship held in Guangzhou, China.

NSC Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama handed over Rs 10,000 each to Bomjan and Gurung amidst a function at his office on Sunday. Bodybuilder Lama could not attend the function.



Speaking at the function, Member Secretary Lama said NSC would request the government to reward wushu players with Rs 100,000 and bodybuilder with Rs 50,000.



NSC also felicitated wushu players Rinji Sherpa and Bishal Thapa as well as Coach Yuvaraj Gurung, who had also participated in the Junior World Wushu Championship.
