KATHMANDU, Sept: The Bagmati Province Government has decided to honor Chaniklal Tamang with a cash reward of Rs 150,000 for his heroic efforts during adverse disasters. Bagmati Government Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama announced that the government will honor Tamang for saving the lives of two people.
On Saturday, Tamang successfully rescued two individuals from being swept away in the Nakkhu River in Sugam Tole, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-25. Tamang originally from Temal Rural Municipality-9 in Kavrepalanchok rescued Meghana Shah, a six-year-old daughter of Raju Shah from Rautahat, and Raju's 22-year-old brother Raj Shah, as they were being swept away by the river.

CM Lama personally thanked Tamang over the phone for his courageous act and informed him of the government's decision to reward him with cash. Lama also mentioned that Tamang's role in disaster response has sparked a sense of social service among citizens.
The CM emphasized that Tamang’s heroic action serves as an inspiration, demonstrating the role ordinary citizens can play in disaster management, and noted that the government will support youths like Tamang in future disaster response efforts.
