Boxing team off to Almaty
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): A three-member Nepali boxing team left Kathmandu on Friday to participate in the World Boxing Championship to be held in Kazakhstan from October 11 to 27. The team led by boxing chief coach Om Maskey includes boxers Deepak Maharjan and Dinesh Shrestha.
The trio are scheduled to participate in the ´Road to Dream´ training program of the International Boxing Association from Sunday in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Team manager Arjun Bahadur KC and another player Deepak Shrestha will join the Nepali team in Almaty before the championship begins.
Deepak Shrestha will compete in men´s 64 kg weight category and Maharjan will represent Nepal in 81 kg. Dinesh Shrestha will participate in men´s 56 kg weight category. National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama and Nepal Boxing Association President Rajiv Shrestha bade farewell to the Nepali team on Friday.
Wall Climbing Championship
KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Sangam KC, Yuvaraj Bardewa, Ashok Lama, Dhruba Bista, Sujit Kandel, Sanjiv Gurung, Sahadev Thokar, Sanjay Bhatta and Binod Khatri reached the final round of men´s section in the Second Inter-college Wall Climbing Championship on Friday.
Likewise, Arina Shrestha, Parvati Joshi, Manju Lama, Krishna Kumari Karki, Ranju Kumari Mandal, Sabita Pyakurel and Puja Khulal Magar secured berths in the final round of women´s section. The event is organized by Mountaineering and Rock Climbing Sports Association Nepal.
