Innovative ideas contest against gender violence

KATHMANDU, March 7: As cases of violence against women are increasing, the Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON) in collaboration with the World Bank has organized a competition to raise awareness on the issue of gender-based violence in Nepal.



The competition seeks innovative ideas from youths and response to the question, "What will it take to end gender-based violence in Nepal?"[break]



The competition is part of the South Asian regional competition organized by the bank. Youth aged between 18 and 25 can participate in the competition by submitting their responses through SMS (text messages) either in Nepali or English. The responses however should not exceed 140 characters, which includes spaces and punctuation.



The best response wins a compact video camcorder. In addition, the winning messages may be highlighted at the bank´s spring meetings in Washington, D.C., as well as on the bank´s and AYON´s website and social media channels.



The deadline for sending the responses is March 15. The responses should be submitted by SMS to 5455 or by email to nogenderviolence@worldbank.org, or by postal mail to PO Box 798, Kathmandu, Nepal. To submit entries via Twitter, participants need to use the hashtag #endgbv to @worldbanksasia.
