Dhirendra Yadav was arrested by the Indian police from a house at Bhawanipur, Kataiya of Bihar. [break]
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Birpur, Manoj Ram, a police team had been deployed to arrest Yadav. Another person, who is believed to be Yadav´s bodyguard, has also been arrested but the police have refused to reveal his name.
Talking to Republica on telephone, Ram said, “We are still carrying out an investigation in his native village Chiknipatti.”
Yadav along with two other inmates -- Bambam Yadav and Subash Jha -- had fled the jail on the night of November 9, 2012 by digging a tunnel. A dozen other inmates had fled the jail that night.
Ram said they have arrested four other criminals, who were involved in various criminal activities on the border. They have been identified as Baidyanath Prasad Yadav of Birpur, Umesh Kumar of Dhiraula, Ashok Kumar Mandal of Pingda and Dev Narayan Yadav of Kishanpur.
Yadav is believed to have been carrying out extortions in the district close to the Indian border. “He had also masterminded the bomb blast in Rajbiraj,” said the police.
Yadav is charged with murder, kidnapping, extortion, forgery, bomb blasts and several other crimes. Yadav has also been convicted of gunning down Bikram Sah, then manager of Rajbiraj branch of Agricultural Development Bank.
