KATHMANDU, July 29: The International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) – which have reached many parts of the country to help Nepal Government in its stride for development – are yet to reach Manang district.


The INGOs are not carrying out any program in the trans-Himalayan district of Manang although active in the rest 74 districts. The organizations are involved in various fields as education, health, drinking water, sanitation, local development, rural electrification and women empowerment in the other districts.

The Development Support Report of the fiscal year 2071-72 made public two weeks ago by the International Economic Support Coordination Division under the Finance Ministry reveals that INGOs are yet to launch any program in Manang's development.


The INGOs launched 31 different projects in Kathmandu while Dhading which saw a total of 15 programs used the highest amount of foreign support. The district spent USD 7.59 million through various INGOs whereas Kathmandu consumed USD 5.44 million.


A total of 134 INGOs are registered with the Association of International NGOs in Nepal. RSS
