"It is encouraging to see growing attraction for ICT, gadgets and services," said an exhibitor at the expo.
The Title Sponsor of the event, Explore Asia, recorded a turnover of Rs 2.5 million in the six days. That excludes the sale of accessories.
Neeraj Sharma, Managing Director of Explore Asia, said they have received advanced bookings for 825 Tablets PCs, after the company was fully sold out of the gadget on the second day of the event itself. “We knew Tablet PC would be the attraction but had no idea that hundreds of visitors would buy it on a single day,” said Sharma. He further said that they sold 45 laptops too.
Stalls of Internet Service Providers and Anti-Virus were alos crowded with visitors throughout the event.

Visitors thronged to the stalls of Gizmos Nepal, which was receiving bookings for Aakash-2, Tablet PC priced at Rs 6,000. Officials said they received booking for 30,000 tablets. The company is planning to bring second version of Aakash to Nepali market by mid-March.
Narayan Neupane, General Secretary of CAN, said the number of visitors reached nearly 100,000 on Saturday - highest so far. “Although we are yet to know the volume of business, we assume that the trade has been better than last year,” he added.
Youth and Sports Minister Kamal Rokka who visited the fair on Saturday said she was impressed to see growing awareness of ICT among the visitors. “It was wonderful to see latest products in the Nepali market,” she said, adding that the event like this is very useful for the growth of the ICT sector.
This edition of the fair featured 39 stalls in branding exhibition centre and 144 stalls were put up for trade purposes. Stalls dealing in hardware, power solution, mobile handsets, Internet, softwares, printing services and others participated at the event.
The event cost about Rs 9 million to the organizers.

Fair was useful but it could have been better: Visitors
Students outnumbered other visitors at CAN Info-Tech 2012. Besides, people from different professions and age-groups grew this year. Republica asked some of the visitors their perception about the event.
Sarita Pandit: It is the range of Tablet PCs available that brought me to the fair. This is the first time I am visiting CAN Info-Tech and I am feeling so excited to see so many gadgets at a place. But, proper guidance to visitors to make the most of the event is lacking. More digital screens should be used to locate the products. Organizers should focus more on the management side.
Hari Lamichhane: I found the fair this year more organized and better. An event like this is useful for students like me as it really updates me with what´s happening in the ICT sector of the country.
Prashamsa Pokhrel: I am here because I wanted to buy a touch-screen mobile. I came here with my family and I request the organizers to make the stalls paper-less and cleaner.
Urmila Thapaliya: My interest in IT products is the main reason why I came here. I am buying a modem and a printer for myself. There can not be a better platform than CAN Info-Tech for showcasing recent developments in the ICT sector. But the organizers should ensure that interested visitors are shown how specific products work.
