The weeklong festival had begun as per rituals on September 27.[break]
During the festival, the chariot of Kumari, Ganesh and Bhairav were taken around various parts of the Hanumandhoka palace area.
The chariot procession was also observed by the President, the Prime Minister, other distinguished personalities and the general public.
The Indra Jatra festival is being observed since it was introduced by then King Jaya Prakash Malla.
For the first time this year, women pulled the chariot of Kumari, which was earlier done only by the men. Some 300 women took part in the historic act.
