Indo-Nepal border to be closed during CA election

PARSA, Nov 7: A meeting of the officials based in the Nepal-India border region held at Raxaul of India decided to close the border two days prior to the Election Day and to exchange information among the security officials to make the CA elections in Nepal successful.



Speaking at a press meet organized following the meeting earlier on Thursday, District chief of Motihari, India, Sridhar C. said that an agreement has been reached to close down all transits along the Indo-Nepal border in the region from 5:00 am of November 17 to 5:00 pm of November 19.[break]



The officials of the two sides also discussed other matters of concern including the pollution in the Sirsiya river by the industries in the Parsa industrial corridor, the illegal extraction of sand and stones from the Oriya river in Parsa and the need to check criminal activities in the border area.



The Chief District Officers and security chiefs of Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Chitwan and Nawalparasi attended the meeting on behalf of the Nepali side while officials from eastern Chaparan and western Chaparan of Bihar, India took part in the meeting.
