BAITADI, July 6: The Jhulaghat checkpoint at Baitadi, which shares a border with India, has been closed till Wednesday evening. The checkpoint has been closed from 6 PM Tuesday to 7 PM on Wednesday to carry out the maintenance work of the suspension bridge at Jhulaghat.
According to Khagendra Bharati, Information Officer at the District Administration Office, Baitadi, the bridge over the Mahakali River has been closed to traffic due to maintenance on the Indian side. Meanwhile, security agencies of both the countries inspected the bridge on Tuesday.

The years-old suspension bridge has been repaired from time to time. Despite the need for a motorable bridge in Jhulaghat, the government has not been able to pay attention to it so far. People in Baitadi have been protesting from time to time demanding construction of a concrete bridge.
